A few weeks back I shared with you an update on my life; I was experiencing a lot of Ups & Downs. One of which was a fellow polish fanatic who was struggling with cancer. I'm very saddened to report that she passed away shortly after my update on November 13th. It is always so surreal when someone passes away; even though Angela & I didn't know each other too intimately I still got used to seeing her Facebook posts and seeing her comments on blogs we both followed. I feel like I have a hole where she was in my life (if only my social media and blog life). Angela and I are also very like-minded so we didn't ever take issue with each others' personal posts on Facebook. Or if we did we knew how to be adults about it and move on. Angela's favorite color is purple so I thought I would compile some of my favorite purple manis in her memory. Sooooo... This post seems to be a tad late; Hah! Thus is LIFE! First, the polish details: Look At The Flowers Lizzie is a murky green jelly packed with pink, white, pale yellow, green, pale pink, black, and white various glitters. It's a unique and adorable mix. Since it is packed with glitters you will want to keep it upside down so you can get plenty of glitter on your brush. I would also recommend applying with the dot or blob method; let a bead of polish drop onto your nail bed, wipe the brush off on the neck of the bottle, and then smooth the bead of polish over your nail. This will give you a nice, even application with a nice distribution of glitter. This polish looks like it will be sheer but 2 coats done as mentioned above gave me really good coverage. I don't see any visible nail line. On my middle nail I decided to try one of the 'Walking Dead' decals from Green Goddess Creations . I applied 2 coats of Julep, Nadia . Did you think we would get through October without a Walking Dead themed polish? Sunlight. This looks like more of a scattered holo but it was linear too. Son Of A Dick is a deep chocolate brown holo. I used 2 coats for opacity. I love the way it looks but sadly the formula was a bit rough for me; it was thick & goopy. I would shake it up during use to keep it as workable as possible. I thought about adding thinner but I thought I remembered seeing something about not using polish thinner in this particular polish. Indoors; Fluorescent light. On my ring nail I applied one coat of Dollish Polish, The Curse Of Michael Myers which is a glitter bomb consisting of various shapes of orange glitter and a sprinkling of some red and yellow. This was one easy coat. This is a very 'Halloween' glitter. I love it. Sadly, neither of these are available. Shade Last Saturday I went to Knott's Scary Farm to see Elvria and her show, Elvira's Asylum . I'm a HUGE Elvira fan so my main goal was to meet her in her Boo-tique but I quickly found out it wasn't all that simple. In order to get a ticket to the Meet & Greet you had to be there when the park initally opened and bought $50 worth of Elvira merch. I have never been to Knott's before so I had no idea that it would take an hour and a half just to park. Needless to say we didn't get inside the park until 10 minutes before 9pm. Luckily, we got into the first show just in time. Incase you're wondering about the show it consists of Elvira's usual shenanigans (I mean that in a good way too). You will get a lot of her banter, wit, and jokes along with dancing skits with her team of dancers and an arial trapeze artist. She even does a little rap number. e.l.f , Party Peach & Dollish Polish , Bazinga! I was going somewhere bright and funky and ended up with autumn. Perhaps a little pumpkin spice... 2 coats of e.l.f. , Party Peach , a (not-so-much-peach) orange cream. Very opaque but a little thick and streaky; I added some thinner and it helped. I really love orange. I was on their site and realized they don't have much for individual polishes right now but it looks like they have new trios . A few of them have peaked my interest... Dollish Polish , Bazinga! is a really fun glitter in a clear base; there's a very slight yellow tinge to the base but it didn't affect Party Peach when layered on top. Dollish Polish uses a special suspension base to prevent her glitters from sinking to the bottom and settling. This results in a thicker formula. Happy New Year! To ring in my New Year (which hopefully will be 110% better than 2014 - Good Riddance!) I went with an interesting combo that tuned out looking a lot like Fruit Cake! LOL I applied 2 coats of Zoya, Anja which I got in my Zoya Mystery Bag (it's a mini). Zoya's website describes it as   'a rich, deep, vampy red-toned wine purple with a glossy creme finish. This vampy shade is both sexy and elegant.'  but I see it as more of a dark burgundy. Either way it is a very vampy color and if you love black polish I think you will like this as well. In low lighting it looks black. Formula was a little on the thin side so I had to be cautious to avoid using too much product but otherwise it applied nicely. It definitly requires 2 thin coats for full opacity. Dry time was good as well. I then topped Anja with one coat of Dollish Polish , 1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You . Right after I finished yesterdays post my Dollish Polish order arrived; I ordered her LE The Walking Dead release called Walker Bait and 4 Halloween Themed Glitter Minis. I had to put Walker Bait on right away. Walker Bait is this awesome deep olive green super holograpic polish. It's like Toxic Avengers' creepy cousin. The formula is much more opaque than your typical holo and only required 2 coats. But it is like other holos in that you don't want to overwork it when applying. In the past I have been able to remove the large sqaure caps for easier polishing but this cap did not want to budge; not sure if maybe the bottles have changed or if I just couldn't remove this one. This polish was named after the character Glenn in The Walking Dead because in one of the earlier seasons he was referred to as Walker Bait. I'm back with Week 6 of the Polish Swap Society Nail Art Challenge! This weeks theme is:  I AM SO SPACED OUT! Pastel Galaxy nails sound fun for spring/summer right? Using this tutorial, create a set of galaxy nails! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZGHOIsMmxA I just got Spellbound Nails , Visions of Sugar Plums in a swap with a fellow member of the Polish Swap Society and I thought it would make for a great base color for this challenge. It's a very pretty dusty purple jelly with what looks to be small and medium matte white hexagons. It also has either matte white or silver stars; I'm not 100% sure because the base actually covers them and makes them look light purple. The formula was pretty thick so I applied each coat nice and slow to get even coverage. I used 2 medium coats but luckily it didn't take too long to dry and it was pretty opaque after 2 coats. I did have to fish to get the stars out but it wasn't too difficult. Lots of shaking and turning the bottle...

Dollish Polish, I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested. 1 coat over: Julie G, Hot Cinnamon. Here is another one of the polishes from Dollish Polish's Big Bang Theory Collection . This is a hot mess in a bottle; it contains multi sized hexagons and multi sized squares in various colors; some are matte and some are shiny. It also has long white bar glitter and large black circle glitter. It's a really crazy and fun mash up of glitter. Formula was pretty great for a glitter bomb like this. The suspension base is thick enough to suspend the glitter yet applies very easily. I didn't need to dab or worry about glitter placement. As you can see I got excellent glitter payoff with just one thin to medium coat. It did take a little extra time to dry due to the thicker base but I didn't mind. I love that I can take the big square top off the bottle and use the smaller cap when polishing. It wasn't too gritty but I still finished it off with a coat of Gelous and...

Dollish Polish, Penny... Penny... Penny... 4 coats. Outdoors, Full Sun. Indoors, Natural Light.  This past Tuesday was one of my little dogs', Penny's, 4th birthday! Of course I had to wear a 'Penny' polish, and it wasn't easy choosing one; I have so many. This one is actually quite perfect because I even had this set as my ring tone on my Android Smart phone; sadly, I can't find the ring tone for my new iPhone. It's also perfect for Valentine's Day. It's a warm lavender with a delicate holo shine. While I always thought Big was an asshole (and still do) I can also attest that many times your love can get stronger when tested. If you can make it through the rough patches; you will find an even stronger bond waiting on the other side.
