WIN-ter Wonderland: e.l.f. Nail Polish Swatches and Giveaway!

Image
When I was on the e.l.f. website I noticed some new(ish) colors so I thought we should take a look at them! I know these are not really Winter or Holiday colors but let's be honest it's gonna be over in a flash and then it will be Spring. These are very versatile colors and a sparkly top coat (Twinkle Twilight) just gives you even more ways to rock them.  Prissy Chrissy   made me laugh; that name! I knew a Chrissy back in my school days who was definitly prissy. This soft peach creme is a nice palette cleanser but not quite a nude so you still get some nice color. I used 2 coats for this swatch stick but I really think this one will need 3 to eliminate any streaks and sheer spots. The creamy fomula was easy to apply. I have nothing quite like Prissy Chrissy; it's definitly a peach tone but with a touch of pink and has a brightness to it like nothing in my stash. Because this is warmer toned than Barielle's Kiss Me Kate I don't think it will give me lobster hands.  ...

Icing, Watermelon.

Image
We have a rogue pumpkin vine growing in our backyard and it has these bright yellow/orange blooms all over it. So I wanted to do something like that on my nails. Icing, Watermelon is a polish I picked up on a whim. It's a soft orangey peach crelly (cross between a creme and a jelly). It took 3 coats to cover up some staining I had on my nails but still looks very squishy. Formula was very easy to apply due to the very jelly-like consistency. Even the huge brush wasn't a problem. It did dry to a very odd finish though; it had some very fine texture particles in it, almost like some neons have. A top coat is necessary. On my Middle & Thumb nails I applied 2 coats of China Glaze, White On White . I then stamped these Lilies from Bundle Monster plate BM-314 using Wet n Wild, Black Creme . Since Watermelon is on the sheer side it worked well to fill in the Lilies with a very fine tipped dotting tool ( once again using the Led Lighting technique ).  I topped all my nails with 2...

The Body Shop: Lipsticks

Image
I recently found out The Body Shop discontinued one of my favorite lipsticks: The ColourGlide Lipstick in Rose Pink (07). It's a great 'My Lips But Better' color that I reach for over & over.  The Body Shop introduced a new line to replace the ColourGlide line; Colour Crush Lipsticks . I thought I would try out a few of the new lipsticks and see if I could find a close match for Rose Pink. ColourGlide Shine Lip Color in Iced Violet (05) Colour Crush Lipstick in Coral Blush (110), Red Hot Raspberry (201), & Coral Kiss (315) Lip Liner in Beech (02) Lip Line Fixer Some ColourGlide Lipsticks are still available on the website (although I don't know for how long) and I picked up one from the ColourGlide Shine Collection which is Iced Violet (05). This is a gorgeous soft plum (cool toned) with gold shimmer. So pretty and unique in my lipstick collection. You can wear it sheer or build it up. It's very glossy and applies smoothly. It's definitely not long wea...

Barielle's Spring Velvets Collection 2014 - Swatches.

Image
Well HELLO there! I've been a very busy little tax pro hence my lack of presence here but I just got Barielle's newest collection so I wanted to get you a peak at the colors and my initial thoughts on formulas and finishes. Let's jump right in with some photos and a quick take on each color. From Top to Bottom:  My Week Away, My Tan Blazer, Sexy Mood. From Top to Bottom: Cream 'n Sugar, A Little Exotic, Uptown Girl. From Left to Right: My Week Away - My 2nd favorite of the line up. Barielle's description is 'A Dusty Pink' and that's mostly correct. In the bottle you can see a soft pale green shimmer (like Greenwich Village from the 2012 Fall Collection). This swatch shows 2 coats. I also added a coat of Barielle's Ulta Speed Dry Manicure Extender to see if it would magnify the shimmer at all but it actually hid it and made it look more like a creme. The formula was nice and easy to work with and very opaque. This photo gives you a nice side-by-side ...

Barielle's Nude & Naughty Fall 2013 Collection.

Image
5 Pack. It's been a while since I've been really wowed by anything from Barielle even though I love their products. I felt the Summer Collections were lacking originality and the formulas did not impress. Apparently, they were saving it up for their Fall releases because I really LOVE this collection! Nude & Naughty is a neutral collection but what makes it special are all the little details and the formulas. I love neutrals but I still like to see special details thrown in. One of my favorites is a nice shimmer. Nail Stick Swatches; Indoors. 2 coats each. No Top Coat. When this collection arrived I promptly did some nail stick swatches; I initially thought I would love the milk chocolate color, In Good Taste , but I really loved the light brown shimmer, I Got A Headache . No Not Now is a taupe/mauve with a very subtle silver shimmer and is beautiful as well. I'm normally very bored with french colors but the two in this collection have excellent formulas....

Priti NYC, City Girl Rose.

Image
2 coats. With Top Coat. I want to apologize for the lack of blog posts over the last week. After our weekend getaway to Laughlin, NV I was wore out (trips are exhausting aren't they???) and had to get caught up on some errands. This is what I wore on my nails for our weekend at the River. I wore Priti NYC on my toes as well; Hedge Hog Rose . It was a great combo.  The formula on City Girl Rose can be a little streaky. Even with 2 coats I had a few sheer spots but it  wasn't enough for me to add a 3rd coat . The odd thing is it didn't translate to my photos at all. The consistency is nice and creamy though and it self leveled nicely and didn't take very long to dry. I loved the brush when doing my toes; it's a flat paddle style brush. But on my tips it was a little big and bulky but still a nice brush. I love this almost neon peachy coral. I finished it off with my 'usual'; Gelous & Seche Vite. I've been on a lucky streak; I won the 4 piece ...

Misa, Taking Chances and Epiphany.

Image
Misa, Taking Chances. 2 coats on Index and Middle. Misa, Epiphany. 2 coats on Ring and Pinkie. Full sun. Check out the lovely golden shimmer...    Shade. You can still see the shimmer. First off I'd like to apologize for the lack of posts. My computer has been glitchy and I've not had a lot of time to mess with it. I also had two days that were overcast so I couldn't get any decent photos. These two are from Misa's Fall Wanderlust Collection which I won from Kellie Gonzo . These photos are after two days of wear and as you can see they held up very well except for that crack on my index finger but that's due to my weakened nail where it happens to be peeling at the moment. Both of these have the same shimmer profile; in these photos Epiphany looks duller but in real life she is just as shimmery as her sister, Taking Chances. I love both of these. The formula is thick due to all the shimmery goodness that is packed into them but th...
