KB Shimmer, Cocoa Nut.

KB Shimmer, Cocoa Nut. 2 coats.

We've had some gloomy weather here lately...

A few days later I was able to snap a sunny photo.

I've been dying to try KB Shimmer's polishes for quite sometime, but money was pretty tight for a while so I was on a major no-buy for several months. But, finally the money issue improved and I was able to purchase some of the holiday polishes she released. After seeing Amy's swatches (I'm Feeling Nail- Venturous) I was most excited about Cocoa Nut because it was an unusual color combo for the holiday season. I also love that the glitter was packed into a shimmery chocolate brown base; Not too in your face and very wearable. It reminded me of something and it took me a couple of days to realize it made me think of fruitcake! LOL I don't really like fruitcake, but the base is a dark brown like fruitcake. Add a few other colors of glitter and it would totally look like fruitcake!

Amy has always highly recommended KB Shimmer's polishes and after trying my first one, I can totally understand. The formula is the best out of all the glitter packed polishes I have used. It went on so nice and easy and was easily opaque in two coats. The brushes are awesome; they are flat paddle style brushes that fan out beautifully on the nail. They are firm enough to manipulate the thick glitter polish, but flexible enough to not cause dragging. They are the perfect width and length. It's nice to see an indie brand working to get us nice brushes.

Cocoa Nut did dry with a textured and bumpy finish so I used 2 coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out. I still have some bumpies (as I'm sure you can see in the photos) but it didn't bother me. When I wore this I hadn't bought my Gelous Gel Coat just yet; otherwise, I think I could have gotten it smoother. I love the scattered holo glitters in this along with the finer gold glitter. At first your eye picks up the magenta hexes but when the light catches it those glitters in the background really come to life.

Cocoa Nut is available at KB Shimmer's Website HERE. She also sells other bath and body products. I bought her soap sampler and have a slice of Peppermint in one bathroom and Spiced Apple in the other. I don't have to worry about air freshener or candles in my bathrooms because these soaps make them smell super good, but it's not overpowering. Even my husband asked me what I did to the bathrooms and why they smell so good... LOL.

Note: KB Shimmer is a cruelty-free company; the nail polish is vegan, but the soaps are not.

  1. That is a nice tip about her soaps. I like this unusual polish on you. I like the scent of Candy Cane Crush polish :D

I need to order some soaps. I used to buy Lush and that worked like an air freshener too. I love that kind of freshener!

    1. I got Candy Cane Crush too! I plan on wearing it for Christmas... I already put it on a nail wheel to get a feel for what I want to layer it over and the smell is amazing; I love Vanilla Peppermint! I looked on her site and she doesn't have the soap sampler up anymore; bummer because that would make a great gift for someone to try out different scents... maybe she will bring it back after the holidays. Thanks for stopping by, love, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year if I don't talk to you before then! :-)
