e.l.f., 2012 New Colors.

Image
When I was browsing www.eyeslipsface.com to pick out some goodies for my giveaway I noticed they had new colors listed. I tried to pull up swatches online to check them out but I couldn't find any. So, guess what?!? I bought them! I did 2 coats for each swatch just to make sure they photographed well. Check them out:

Icing, Pre-Game.

Icing, Pre-Game. 2 coats over: Barielle, Hidden Hideaway. Please excuse the dry skin on my index and middle; my skin is still getting used to the colder evenings. I love this shredded glitter; it consists of red, blue, green, gold, silver, and magenta mylar shreds in a clear base. It reminds me of Mardi Gras. Application can be a little tricky with this one; the good news is this glitter has a really nice suspension base so you don't ever have to fish for glitter. The downside is you get a little too much of the base with traditional application and it floods the nail. I adjusted to accommodate this by simply dropping a dollop of the glitter packed polish on my nail and then wiping the brush off on the rim of the bottle. I then spread the dollop of glitter over the nail. It worked great. Some nails got a ton of glitter and some not enough so I did a second coat to get plenty of glitter on each nail. It dried pretty quick and I used 2 coats of Seche Vite because some of

Barielle, Hidden Hideaway.

Barielle, Hidden Hideaway. 2 coats. Hidden Hideaway was part of Barielle's 2008 Fall Affair Collection. I also have Date Night and Two Timing from this collection. I love them; their formulas are excellent and super saturated. You can see my swatch of Date Night HERE and I hope to show you Two Timing soon. Hidden Hideaway is a very dark red toned purple with a glowey shimmer that comes out in sunlight. In low lighting it looks black. It's a really nice vampy shade. The formula is thick enough to give you great coverage on the first coat but not thick enough to be difficult to apply. Dry time was typical and I added a coat of Seche Vite to seal it all in. It dried nice and shiney all on it's own. You can buy Barielle products online at www.Barielle.com . I believe they are having a Cyber Monday Deal too so be sure to check them out on Facebook HERE . I took this photo at Sunset to show you all the shimmery goodness. Up close & personal. M

Misa, Lost to the World. (Happy Thanksgiving!)

Image
Misa, Lost to the World. 2 coats. I'm not proud of what I'm showing you tonight. I had all these great laid out plans to have this come out like I saw it done on this tutorial by Maria of Cult Nails on Let Them Have Polish . No fault of the excellent tutorial; it was my lack of experience with Gelish that was the true undoing of this  disaster manicure. First, the good part: Misa, Lost to the World is an amazing milk chocolate creme with a subtle warm shimmer from the fall Wanderlust Collection. In low light it looks like thick melted milk chocolate. In sunlight a shimmer of gold, pink, and green emerges. It's a lovely color. The formula was like melted chocolate as well; it melted right onto my nails. The 1st coat was almost totally opaque, the 2nd finished it off. I had no issues with dragging or bare spots. Dry time was average on the 1st coat; the 2nd took a little longer.   I used SuperNail Dried Flowers from Sally

Misa, Taking Chances and Epiphany.

Image
Misa, Taking Chances. 2 coats on Index and Middle. Misa, Epiphany. 2 coats on Ring and Pinkie. Full sun. Check out the lovely golden shimmer...    Shade. You can still see the shimmer. First off I'd like to apologize for the lack of posts. My computer has been glitchy and I've not had a lot of time to mess with it. I also had two days that were overcast so I couldn't get any decent photos. These two are from Misa's Fall Wanderlust Collection which I won from Kellie Gonzo . These photos are after two days of wear and as you can see they held up very well except for that crack on my index finger but that's due to my weakened nail where it happens to be peeling at the moment. Both of these have the same shimmer profile; in these photos Epiphany looks duller but in real life she is just as shimmery as her sister, Taking Chances. I love both of these. The formula is thick due to all the shimmery goodness that is packed into them but th

My 1st Frankens - Part 2.

Image
I'm even more excited about this part because the unexpected happened: I created a polish that made me gasp for air. That's right; I didn't expect my 1st time playing around and frankening to amount to anything but a mess. But, as we all know (all too well) is that when you're relaxed and letting those creative juices flow you can create something amazing... or just stumble upon something really cool.

My 1st Frankens - Part 1.

Image
I dove into my slew of polishes that I won from Addicted To OPI-yum and came out on the other side with 10 frankens. I'll be showing you 6 of them today! I decided to break it up into two parts since I knew it would be picture and text heavy; here are the blue and green frankens I made: (2 coats of each polish)

Recent Giveaway Wins! (I'm a lucky duck!)

When you're broke, the only kind of haul is of the FREE kind (LOL). Luckily, I'm rich in good Karma.... More on that later. In the end of September I won Misa's Wanderlust Collection from Kellie Gonzo . This is quite possibly my favorite Fall Collection to be released this year. I love the colors and textures. To top it off Misa is a Cruelty-Free brand! Hip-Hip-Hooray!!! I look forward to wearing these soon... On Halloween I was the lucky Random Draw winner over at Addicted To OPI-yum 's Scariest Bottle of Polish Contest. Whooo Hooo! I got a great idea to use these to make frankens after checking out Skeeter Style and seeing her frankens. I will be posting the results so stay tuned... I'm really excited to play with these! The possibilities are endless... Back to the good Karma... Since being unemployed, I've learned a lot of valuable lessons and one of them is that money isn't everything; there are much more important things in life.

Wet n Wild Fastdry, Behind Closed Doors. (Happy Birthday, Burt!)

Image
Wet n Wild Fastdry, Behind Closed Doors. 3 coats. Today is my husband's (Burt) birthday. He's 37!!! Wow, I can't believe it! If you knew him you wouldn't believe it either; he's a big kid and has a baby face to match. He doesn't read blogs but I still want to send him a big virtual Happy Birthday, Buuuuuurt! I love him very much; he's my soul mate. Fun Fact: I'm a Capricorn and Burt is a Scorpio. The Capricorn / Scorpio combo is one of the strongest in the zodiac. I don't really invest too much in the zodiac but I do find it interesting. I have a lot of the typical traits of a Capricorn however, I have found that being with a Scorpio has taught me to let go of some of my rigid traits and I am much more spontaneous now... A big trait of Scorpio. Ok, enough mush. Let's get to the fun! Last night I sat down with him and gave him a selection of polish to chose his 3 favorites from: From Left to Right: Icing Magnetix, Grey - ManGlaze, Fugge
