Today's post is one of my very favorite! Every year I like to include an epic Christmas polish; one that I think is all of Christmas rolled into one bottle!
I give you... X-mas Me Silly from Polish Me Silly! From their website: 'It is meant to look like a christmas tree with a rainbow of ornaments and yellow, pink, and bright green stars floating throughout it to top it off.... It consists mostly of hexagon glitters and star glitter. It has a jelly green base to make it less transparent and tiny holographic green glitter to represent the tree. All of the colors of the rainbow are in this polish! lol The colors in this polish look beautiful together and it is absolutely stunning on. This is the perfect X-Mas polish...'
X-mas Me Silly can be built up to opacity but I opted to layer one coat over Hard Candy, Crush On Ivy. I've had this Hard Candy in my Untrieds for ages and I love how it looks with XMS over the top. Formula was really great and easy to apply; just be sure to set the bottle upside down for awhile and give it a good shake so you can get all the star and circle glitter out. It did dry rather gritty so a couple coats of In A Hurry were used to smooth things out and to seal in those stars.
Last year I also gaveaway a really cool Nail Polish Ornament from Ellagee. Well, it just so happens (AKA I saw it and knew it would be perfect!) Polish Me Silly has these super cute oversized dog tags that make for a perfect (unorthodox) ornament. Now, you don't have to put it on a tree; it can also go on your purse, rear view mirror, keychain, etc., etc. You can put it anywhere you want! Right now they are out of stock but they should have some more available soon.
While I was shopping Polish Me Silly I also noticed a gorgeous Sterling Silver Flakie called Hypnotic and I just couldn't pass it up! Would this be perfect for New Years or what?!? From their website: 'HYPNOTIC is one of the most AMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGG polishes we have ever created! It is soooo different from any other polish out there because it has a reflective metallic finish if you completely cover your nails with it. It actually creates a MIRROR FINISH on your nails. It is NOT a glitter but it is made up of sterling silver flakes that have a light goldish coloring to them...kind of like a platinum color. It looks incredible on everyone! It applies very smoothly and feels like velvet on your nails. SERIOUSLY....EVERYONE needs to own a bottle of this polish!'. That's right, gang, REAL Sterling Silver flakes!
The formula on this is amazing; The flakes are well suspended in the base and you get a ton of glitter on the brush. This could easily be full coverage with 2 - 3 coats. I chose to layer one coat over China Glaze, Don't Get Derailed; a dark taupe creme. The brush is a wide flat-tipped brush and applied the glitter perfectly. Great coverage and consistency. It did lighten the base color a touch. The flakies lay nice and smooth on the nail. It's a stunning look. I can see me pulling this out quite often to add some bling and/or an accent nail with it. I also really like the bottles; they are a nice weightly round base with a white cap that is round and slightly flared at the base and then slightly squared at the tip. It felt really nice in my hand.
