Happy Slaps-Giving: Barielle & Jane's Tiny Things!

Image
So that title just gave me a genius idea for next year (It's too late for this year); tiny handprint turkeys. Look for it next year. The husband and I love that How I Met Your Mother episode . This year I went with 2 of Barielle's Shades from their Jetsetter Collection ; Autumn In Seoul and Kiss Me Kate. On my ring nail I applied 4 tiny leaves from Jane's Tiny Things , Leaf Me Be Decals. Barielle, Autumn In Seoul : I was very plesantly surprised with this polish. When I first applied it I thought it would be really sheer, streaky, and show brush strokes but I was wrong. This does look sheer on the 1st coat but I was quite satisfied with 2 coats. The formula is thin but applies very easily (just be sure not to over work it). It dried quickly and hardly shows any kind of brush strokes. This warm bronzy brown seems to glow from within. Its quite beautiful on the nail and I love it. Barielle, Kiss Me Kate : This light neutral creme applies very opaque. I used 2 coats but some ...

Full Face using Cover FX CC Cream.

Image
Back in mid-summer I experienced one of my worst acne breakouts. It happens to be when I did this full face look. The downfall is you are about to see my face looking absolutley terrible. The good side is you can get a very good idea what the coverage of the CC Cream is like. This prep face is when I had just switched to using Murad's Acne System and now my skin is looking great. In a month I saw great results and now some past acne scars are fading so I plan on sharing my results with the Murad Acne System shortly. Here's a breakdown of the products used and individual photos: Prepped Face:   - Washed face with Murad Clarifying Cleanser. - Applied Murad Acne Clearing Solution to entire face and jaw line. - Applied Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15. I don't normally use this but I thought it might work well to control my oil under the CC Cream. - Applied e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer to my eyelids. - Applied e.l.f. Hydrating Under Eye Primer under my eyes and to my dark ...

Review: Cover FX CC Cream & Cream Concealer.

After my not-so-great experience with the Cover FX BB Gel I decided to try their CC Cream instead. I also picked up the Cream Concealer . I actually like the CC Cream ; it's got a really nice emollient formula which applies and blends really nicely with a beauty blender. The coverage is medium; not sheer, not full coverage but it does give a very uniform appearance to skin. I only need to use a concealer over very dark spots and pimples. It has a dewy finish so I apply a powder on top to mattify and set it. If I want full coverage I buff in a foundation powder after giving the CC Cream some time to set.  There are some down sides to the CC Cream for me; while I like the emollient formula for application it's not so great for wear time. I have oily skin so this ends up sliding all over my face after about 4 hours of wear. I also have realized that it's heavy on the skin (very noticeable in hot summer weather). I do want to see how it fairs in cooler weather; because I do t...

Fortune Cookie Soap: Steam Me Up Scotty! Shower Fizzy in Poisonous Fog.

Image
Hey Gang! So, my nails are in terrible (and I mean terrible ) condition. I think between the stress of the move and the physical labor my nails are paying the price. I've had several breaks, peeling, hang nails, and dry cracking skin. So, I will be giving my nails a few weeks to recoup. In the mean time I will be doing some non-polish related posts. This first one is my first time trying Fortune Cookie Soap . I've seen rave reviews about this company and since finding out that Bath & Body Works is no longer cruelty free this is the perfect time to try them out. Soooo, what exactly is a "Steam Me Up Scotty!" and how do you use it? Basically, it's a  heavily scented  fizzy designed for an aromatherapy type shower experience. Directions   : For maximum results take a    hot   , steamy shower. Simply unwrap & toss the shower fizzy on the floor to the back of your shower, out of the stream of water. You want it to slowly fizz during your shower, ra...
